Urban Hydroponics - Test Equipment - CF and pH Control

The secret of obtaining consistently good results from hydroponics is to provide the best possible nutrient solution. The two factors to monitor are the nutrient strength (CF test) and how acidic or alkaline the solution is (pH test). Urban Hydroponics provides all the equipment you need to ensure healthy growth and maximum yields.

Urban Hydroponics pH Control

pH is a measure of the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. A basic, neutral solution is numerically equal to 7. The solution gets more acidic as the numbers decrease and more alkaline as the numbers increase. The ph scale ranges from 0 pH (very acidic) to 14 pH (highly alkaline). Pure water has a pH of 7, indicating that it is neither alkaline nor acidic, but neutral. Different nutrients may be absorbed at different pH levels.

Hanna GroCheck PH Meter

Hanna Instrument's innovative pH indicator HI 981401N has been designed to meet the Grower's need for equipment suited to the aggressive environments found in agricultural and hydroponics applications. The housing is water-resistant and the molded eye allows installation right above the sample to be monitored. Measurements are highly accurate and can be verified with one or two point calibration. This pH tester includes a 12 VDC power supply, large easy to read LCD screen, and pH electrode. The electrode is interchangeable and the connector is well-protected behind a waterproof sheath. This pH indicator is supplied with a stainless steel probe to prevent potential grounding problems ensuring extended electrode life. The gel-filled pH electrode has been specifically designed to address the needs of growers. Its design guarantees greater clogging resistance in fertilizer solutions with high concentrations of phosphate, nitrate, etc

Constant pH monitoring.
Range 0.00 to 14.00 pH

Hanna pH Pen

The phep is probably the best selling pH meter in the world. The clear LCD display shows pH
to 0.1pH resolution and the meter has an accuracy of 0.1pH.
Calibration of pH can be carried out at either 1 or 2 points (usually pH 4 and 7 buffer values)
quickly and easily. The electrode is housed within the pocket sized case and is ready for use
as soon as the black plastic cap is removed. Simply dip the end of the Phep in the solution to
be measured and read the pH on the clear LCD display.

Main Features:

Urban Hydroponics CF Control

Different plants need differing strengths of nutrient mixes throughout their cycle, especially if fruiting is to occur. To measure the strength of a solution you need a CF (Conductivity factor) or EC (Electrical conductivity) meter. CF is measured in mS/cm or miliSiemens per centimeter. An CF meter measures an electrical current in the solution and reads the conductivity produced from the motion of the mineral ions. Low conductivity means low nutrient concentration, often resulting in nutritional deficiencies and slow plant growth. High conductivity means more food for your plants. But be careful of not to get over zealous with the concentration of your nutrient solution; very high conductivity can burn or kill your plants.

Hanna GroCheck CF Meter

These state-of-the-art meters have been engineered with a host of features to suit the aggressive environments commonly found in agricultural applications. To make the Gro'Chek ideally suited for growers, the housings and cable connections have been sealed against vapor and humidity. False readings due to low batteries as well as frequent battery changes are not an issue with the Gro'chek monitors as they come instead with a 12 VDC power supply included with the meter.

Constant CF monitoring.
Range: 0 to 1990 mg/L (ppm)
Resolution: 10 mg/L
Accuracy(@20°C/68°F): ±2% F.S

Hanna EC Pen

The Hanna EC DiST testers are reliable, pocket-sized instruments that will give you quick and accurate readings of conductivity.

The casing of the popular DiST testers has been redesigned for increased strength, to better fit your hand and also offer a much larger LCD for easier viewing. The graphite sensors provide better repeatability since they do not oxidize. The probe is user replaceable. In fact, the whole PCB module slides out and can be replaced. The casing has been shaped in such a way as to ease air bubbles out. The temperature sensor is exposed and provides faster response time.

Temperature effects your conductivity measurements by 2% per degree centigrade. Automatic Temperature Compensation assures that all readings are corrected to compensate for the effect of temperature. An LCD displays the digits clearly so they can be read at virtually any angle. If calibration is necessary simply submerge the electrode into calibration solution, and turn the trimmer at the back of the tester.

NZ CF Truncheon

The NZ Truncheon measures the nutrient strength of a solution. It is essential when growing hydroponics to KNOW what the strength of the solution is before feeding your plants AND while they are growing.

To take a reading of your solution - simply place the probe head into the solution for 1-2 minutes to reach the same temperature of your nutrient. Remove from the solution and place back in to take the reading as indicated by the flashing lights. Rinse the probe after use in fresh water and clean once a week to ensure the Truncheon remains accurate.
It's great for stirring your nutrient tank too!
